Catherine Brandon was the daughter of Richard Brandon...

Richard BRANDON was born about 1748 in York County, Pa. He married Agnes KINCADE in the Winter of 1772/1773 in Union County, SC.

Agnes has been found on the 1790, 1810 and 1820 Federal census for Union County, SC. Richard was killed during the Revolutionary War, August 1781 and Agnes died in Union County.

According to the pension paper's filed on behalf of his surviving family, Richard entered the service shortly after the beginning of the hostilities as a Private horseman of Cpt Jolly's Company in Col Thomas Brandon's regiment. Col Thomas Brandon was listed as his brother. He was promoted to Sergeant of Quartermast. He served until killed in Union District in August 1781 and was buried on the Fairforest River Bank on the Road to Cross Keys. Another source shows his date of death to be 25 June 1781. This source show him killed by a tory trying to kill his brother, Col. Thomas Brandon. He served in the Snow Campaign, Florida Campaign, and was in the battles of Kings Mountain, Blackstocks and Cowpens.

Richard's parents are unknown. Col Brandon's pension papers report that his family moved to the Union County, SC district in 1754/55. I have evidence of brothers: Thomas, William, John, George, Richard and sisters: Katherine, Letitia, and Mary Ann. The Col Joseph Habersham Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Georgia refers to Col Brandon as the son of George Brandon who settled on the Tinker Creek in Union Co, SC. No evidence has been found.
