I am a descendant of Melvina (Lovina) STANLEY born 24 Aug 1809 in Wilkesboro, Wilkes, North Carolina. She died 2 May 1877 in same place. She was married to Miles Alonzo NANCE in 1824. Melvina was daughter of Shadrick STANLEY and Hannah BECKNELL who were married 7 Jul 1800. My records indicate that Hannah BECKNELL was daughter of Samuel BECKNELL and Elizabeth ____. My records indicate that Shadrick STANLEY was son of John or Jonathan STANLEY and Margaret _____. I do not have any source listed for these so they may be in error. I do have one source -- The NANCE REGISTER, by Martin "Pete" Nance, copyright 1966. I have the book in my possession. I understand there is an updated one either out or in the works but I doubt if much is done on the STANLEY or BECKNELL lines in this book. Hope this gives you some hints. If you have a source that shows your Shadrack's parents, I would appreciate knowing that info. Tks.
