Carolyn, so are we all who are researching the Becnel Family. What we firmly "believe" is that the name was previously Bicknell originating from an area know as Beacon Hill in Sommersetshire, England. All who spell their name Becnel flow from Thomas and Catherine's 1742 marriage in Louisiana.
