In Downeast Ancestry June 1986 Volume 10 Number 1 there is a picture of a small child that is said to be a Bicknell descendant.

Her name is Ethel May Patten. Written on the back of the picture is Ethel May Patten, Stockton, California. About 1895-1896. Ethel May Patten was the daughter of Albert Patten, granddaughter of Mary (Steward) Patton whose husband was Samuel Patton of North Newport, Maine.

Mary Ann Steward, was born February 13, 1833 in Newport, Maine. Mary Ann Steward was the daughter of Abiah Bicknell and Olive (Ripley) Steward.

Albert Patten and his wife were killed in a train wreck.
According to the article Ethel was brought up by a train mate.
