A Clarence Chandler Bicknell or( Chandler Clarence Bicknell) was born in 1861 in Massachusettes, USA and died in 1943.
Genealogy Correspondence

The name is unusual, and the dates seem to fit the person for whom you are looking. He operated a small Candy and Nut shop called "The Nutshell" West Chesterfield Massachusetts in the 1920's and 1930s. This is a tourist area of Massachusetts near Chesterfield Gorge.

Both sides of his family have been in the United States since the 1600's, but he did live in a rugged (Mountainous) area of Massachusetts in the 1920's and 1930's , so he might have been a climber, but I have no information about what he did in the 1800's.
He did not marry. His father was John Hervey Bicknell, and his mother was Matilda Caroline Rhodes.
I do have two pictures of him from the 1900's, probably 1930's.
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if you would like me to email you images of the postcard, which his picture and signature on it.

BL Brett
