I have family transcripts which give history on Dabney. I'm sure you already know that he was born on July 16,1781 in Amherst County. He was a Methodist, and English. He came to Union, SC about 1800. The settlement in which the Becknells lived was raided by indians. Part of the BEcknell family was slain, some escaped to Tennessee. Dabney and a brother went to SC.
His brother settled near Traveler's Rest in Greenville County. Dabney married Catherine Brandon (have family info on her), dtr of Richard Brandon, who I is in my direct line.
They begat 5 sons and 5 daughters. Sons: JamesH., William, George Washington, Robert, John. Dtrs: Nancy, Letitia, Jane, Lucinda, Selina. Dabney etc. are buried in the old Union Presbytarian cemetary.
I have a photo of his gravestone, and maybe hers, etc.
Funny, I took those pictures just this 4th of July while I was there on a reunion!!
Is this all any news to you??
